Head Veterinary Nurse

  • Queens Park Veterinary Surgery
  • Chorley New Road, Bolton BL1 4BY, United Kingdom
Full time Small Animal / Companion

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Head Nurse to lead our team of nurses and VNA’s at our small animal practice in Bolton.

We have a loyal, compliant client base, with a higher than average percentage of insured clients. This allows us to provide the best patient care possible, which is our ultimate aim. We are looking for somebody who fits in with our ethos and is passionate about delivering the best service to our patients and clients.

Our nurses currently have a varied working day which will include admitting/discharging patients, running bloods and other lab work, setting up and monitoring patients throughout GA and subsequent recovery, inpatient care and treatment. We also promote a variety of nurse clinics to our clients, including weight clinics, puppy/kitten progress checks and post op checks, so a willingness to participate in these is essential. There will also be some reception, which will involve answering the telephone, booking appointments and taking payments, as well as dispensary work. Our clients appreciate the importance of having knowledgeable staff able to provide advice over the phone, which is usually the first point of contact.

Our ideal nurse will be RCVS registered, however we are happy to take applications from experienced nurses also. We would like you to be motivated and enthusiastic, and capable of leading by example. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and take a proactive approach to life in practice.

Benefits include:

4 weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays
Excellent salary and pension scheme
Professional fees paid, including RCVS, BVNA and VDS
CPD annual allowance
Full support from the management team

We operate on a two week rolling rota to allow a good work/life balance, with shifts of either 7.45am-4pm or 12pm-7.30pm. 1:2 Saturdays of 8am-12.30pm. No OOH requirement.
